Work and play, they're never okay to mix the way we do.
It's been a while since the last time I wrote a blog. The past few months have been ridiculously busy, but things are going well here in Auburn. I've finished half of my first senior year (victory lap!), and it seems as if time is just flying by. I love the graphic design department here. I feel like I've learned so much that will benefit me in the future. I've also continued with printmaking, which is a huge part of my design work.
I've already illustrated children's poems, printed a 2x2 foot woodblock print, and partially branded a boutique this semester, and I'm about to start a poster for Talking Heads. I think I'll work on music posters & merch for my senior project. My work is so much fun.
Two of my friends are getting married this year. It's a very strange and exciting thing to be a part of these events. Sometimes I feel like we're still just kids, but then I think about how much we've all grown. I think we're all becoming even more awesome people than we already are, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. Personally, I'm ready to get out and start creating things for real clients. I've been looking at Seattle, Nashville, and Glasgow as potential places to move after graduation. It's really exciting.
I've actually been reading a good bit in my free time. I started The Bell Jar a few days ago, and I really like Sylvia Plath's writing so far. I also began rereading A Confederacy of Dunces yesterday. I had forgotten what a funny book it is, and I'm glad I picked it up again. I've been reading a lot of design books and cookbooks over the past few months as well. Nerdy, yes, but I don't care. If I ultimately fail as a designer, I can always be a baker (no pun intended). If you have any book suggestions, definitely let me know because my "to read" list is growing shorter and shorter.
There is still designing to be done, and sleeping as well. Apparently my neighbors thought it would be an excellent idea to throw a rave on a Thursday night. They were quite wrong. Those youngsters.
